Recently, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission announces the list of Excellent Doctor Thesis 2014. Dr. Kouyao, the former PhD student is in the list!

Dr. Kou did his PhD study during 2008/9-2013/7 under the supervisions of Prof. Xianfeng Chen and Prof. Fangwei Ye.  His research interest is the novel physics and new applications of surface plasmonic polaritons (SPPs). SPP is a collective oscillation of surface charges at the metallic surface and electromagnetic(EM) fields, which can be used to confine EM energy down to nanoscales, providing a unique way to true nanoworld for optics! His achievements include the finding of vector plasmonic lattice solitons, surface truncated plasmonic lattice solitons, higher-order multiple plasmonic solitons, and self-imaging in MIM waveguides.

Dr. Kou is currently a postdoctoral researcher in University of Paderbon, Germany.
