Doctor Haowei Jiang attended the 13th Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO Pacific Rim, CLEO-PR 2018), which was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong SAR from 29 July to 3 August 2018. CLEO-PR is a biannual conference first held in 1995. The Conference covered all major areas in lasers and optoelectronics along with tutorial sessions, invited sessions, and workshops in areas of current interest.

In CLEO-PR 2018, doctor Haowei Jiang gave a poster presentation titled “Optomechanical oscillation in the lithium niobate photonic crystal nanocavity”. In this work, nonlinear optomechanical oscillations were observed in the lithium niobate photonic crystal nanocavity. High harmonic oscillations up to 14th order are achieved, which may function as a mechanical frequency comb. This work was done by Prof. Yuping Chen, Prof. Xianfeng Chen, and Prof. Qiang Lin from University of Rochester in collaboration.
